Size and packaging guidelines

The most common standard rack width is 19 inches. Most rack-mounted equipment, especially servers, have a mounting width of 19 inches measured from one hole to another. Thus, the rack must be 19 inches across in order to fit this technology. Many racks today come with a exterior width of 24 inches.

 The racks in a data centre are measured in U (short for Unit). One U is 1.75 inches tall, and servers (as well as other IT equipment) are often built in 1.75-inch increments to easily translate into U. Racks come in different sizes when it comes to commissioning colocation services.

The 1U, 2U, 3U, 4U, 5U, 6U and 7U are all different sized rackmount servers, and the U following the number is short for unit. The number indicates the size of the rackmount, 1U being the smallest rackmount and 7U being the biggest rackmount.

 Free Standing 19" Data Cabinets combine attractive styling with a rugged, durable structure offering a wide range of features at outstanding value.  

The internal racking depth is 130mm less than the external depth.

For all our racks, we strongly recommend measuring all dimensions to ensure that the unit will fit into place on site and through any doorways or lifts.

Please note: 800mm wide cabinets do not fit through standard sized single doorways so please measure up before selecting your cabinet size.

Our cabinets can be supplied flat-packed as standard; please select this option on the product page to add it to your order for an additional £55 plus vat.

For the products that don't offer flat-pack as an online option, please contact us to check if it can be added - additional costs may apply.
